ABOUT JOSEPH RIZZO M.D.

Dr. Rizzo was born in the Bronx, New York and raised in the New York tri-state area. After graduating from Fordham university, he went to the university of Torino in Torino Italy to initiate his medical training. Subsequently he transferred to New York medical College and graduated in 1982. He completed his internal medicine training at Lincoln Hospital, Bronx, New York and Stonybrook University. He later went on to do his cardiology training at North Shore University Hospital in Manhassett , New York. He became board-certified in internal medicine in 1985 and Cardiology in 1987.

 

Later, Dr Rizzo became board-certified interventional cardiology. He practiced interventional cardiology in Appleton Wisconsin, where he was the Director of the cardiac Cath Lab at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital from 1988 to 1994. Subsequently he moved to Lubbock Texas where he was initially recruited to practice with Medical Arts Clinic in 1995 and later joined Cardiologists of Lubbock until his retirement in 2020. Dr Rizzo is one of the cofounders of Lubbock Heart Hospital. He also practiced at Covenant Medical Center and was on staff at Texas Tech University Hospital. Dr. Rizzo also has always had an interest in alternative and functional medicine. He did training in anti-aging and functional medicine and received board certification from the American Academy of aging. He has always had an interest in preventative medicine as well as alternative treatments in addition to traditional therapies.

 

Dr. Rizzo firmly believes in continuing medical  education and learning as medicine is an ever evolving field.At this time, he is practicing preventative medicine with focus on Cardiology as well as overall health maintenance and regenerative treatments. He previously started the Center for preventative and regenerative medicine where he focused on hormone replacement therapy and weight loss. At this time Dr Rizzo also has an interest in regenerative treatments with exosomal therapies as well. He is an advocate for cardiac rehab and exercise and nutrition as a means of optimizing health. He’s always been a strong believer in listening to the patient in order to get a full understanding of what their concerns are.
